Thought for today:
‘Good performance accountability is about having a positive conversation between manager and employee. A manager is a coach and communicator, not command and controller.’

Performance management, difficult conversations, providing feedback.
I ask the managers on my workshops which topic they’d most like to spend time on.
This is their list.
Their anxiety around performance management is palpable.
Yet it doesn’t need to be.
This is a space I enjoy working with because I can combine my skills to help managers.
A good deal of the difficulty is in the head of the manager.
Often they are not clear on why they need to do these things, or feel they need to be “nice” in order to be liked.
If you think of the managers you have had over the years, as I often do, who stands out for you and why?
