Thought for today:
‘When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it’s our job to share our calm, not join their chaos.’

I don’t often do this, but because I find L R Knost so inspirational I am including her bio:
“Award-winning author, feminist, and social justice activist, L.R.Knost, is the founder and director of the children’s rights advocacy and family consulting group, Little Hearts/Gentle Parenting Resources, and Editor-in-Chief of Holistic Parenting Magazine.”
When Knost talks about little people she means children (in case you wondered).
In times like these, children can easily become overwhelmed with emotion.
I have had my own experience of counselling children and young adults, I have seen this overwhelm.
The attitudes and behaviours of their parents will either help – or hinder – their coping.
I would add that this also applies between adults too.
Sharing our fears and anxiety can be beneficial for us and detrimental to “receivers”.
I would not advocate false optimism – it is inauthentic.
I would advocate turning a conversation towards the light rather than perpetuating the darkness.
