I think most therapists will tell you that anxiety features in a great deal of the issues they see.
And for me, working with entrepreneurs, self-doubt features much more than might be expected.
There is this perception that entrepreneurs are the most confident business people around.
And some have confidence in abundance.
Yet many suffer imposter syndrome, self-doubt and undermine themselves far better than anyone else can.
The “system” doesn’t help them.
Mentors and investors tell them to “walk the walk” and “talk the talk”.
Many offer no psychological support at all.
One told me “if they can’t stand the heat, they shouldn’t be in the kitchen”.
This was from a high-profile supporter of entrepreneurship.
Given a gong for his “contribution”.
This has to stop.
